Today, embark on a city tour starting at the NWT Legislative Assembly, where you’ll learn about Canada’s consensus-style government. Next, visit the historic Giant Mine and stop by Buffalo Airways, famous from the show Ice Pilots. Explore their hangar filled with WWII aircraft. Afterward, we’ll return downtown to see sparkling diamonds at the NWT Diamond Centre.
Later, we’ll journey through Old Town, stopping at iconic spots like Ragged Ass Road and the Bush Pilot’s Monument, offering spectacular views over the frozen lake. In the evening, enjoy your first aurora-viewing experience from a cozy cabin, with hot drinks and fresh bannock to keep you warm.

After a leisurely morning, we venture to a frozen lake for a unique ice fishing experience. Accompanied by local guides, you’ll help pull nets loaded with northern fish, giving you an authentic taste of this traditional practice. Our morning on the lake wraps up with a fresh fish fry, a true northern delight.
Later, prepare for a thrilling night of aurora chasing. With Yellowknife’s clear skies offering a 98% chance to view the lights, we drive to various remote locations, maximizing our chances to see the Aurora Borealis dance across the night sky.

Today, experience an Indigenous-led dogsledding tour, where you’ll meet and greet the friendly sled dogs before taking off on a serene ride across a frozen lake. Our morning wraps up with hot drinks and storytelling in a heated teepee, immersing you in the rich history of dogsledding.
After dinner, gather at the Skydome for a special aurora-viewing night with Dene hosts. Relax by a wood-burning stove as you enjoy traditional drumming, Dene storytelling, and local delicacies like fresh Great Slave Lake fish.

1. Cancel of a tour before final payment (61+ days): your deposit is non-refundable. We strongly suggest that you have comprehensive travel insurance in place to cover any financial losses should you need to cancel for unforeseen reasons. 2. Cancel a tour after final payment, and before 30 days prior to departure (60-30 days): a future travel credit will be offered for all payments received, that can be used towards any Anderson Vacations tour departing within the following 12 months. Cancellation fees and non-refundable payments made to other travel service providers, if any, will be deducted. These are typically third-party non-refundable payments made to hotels, railways, and other travel services by Anderson Vacations to secure travel arrangements on the client's behalf. 3. Cancel a tour within 30 days of departure (29-0): No refunds or travel credits will be given.
