Join Shenandoah Tours for this getaway to Cape Cod and the neighboring islands, a favorite summer resort of the rich and famous. “The Cape,” stretching nearly 70 miles into the ocean, is bent in the shape of a great arm and creates 300 miles of coastline. Day 1 – Travel to Milford Connecticut
Today we’ll travel to Milford, Connecticut, our overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. Hampton Inn – Milford, CT.
Day 2 – Ole Cape Cod Touring
On to Hyannis, Massachusetts, where a local guide joins us for a tour including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannisport, and a view of the St. Francis Xavier Church. Day 3 – Cruise and touring – Nantucket
A morning cruise to the stunning island of Nantucket, the “far-away island,” surrounded by the warm, clear waters of the Atlantic. Explore this community whose original colonial New England atmosphere is virtually unchanged, retaining the charm of yesteryear. Free time to enjoy the restaurants, galleries, shops and museums that are within walking distance of the dock. Day 4 – Provincetown – Whale Watching
This morning we travel down historic Route 6A to Provincetown, viewing the Eastham Windmill and a lighthouse. While in Provincetown, we’ll enjoy a whale watch excursion. A Naturalist on board will explain the marine life we see during our cruise. Be sure to bring a camera! Cape Point Hotel – West Yarmouth (B)
Day 5 – Cruise to Martha’s Vineyard – Island Tour
Our guide accompanies us to the Hy-Line Docks to embark a vessel for our cruise to the “Storybook Island” of Martha’s Vineyard. Upon arrival board a local bus for a Down island Tour. We’ll learn about the history and lifestyle of the islanders as we travel through the villages. Lunch and shopping on our own in the historic whaling village of Edgartown. A guided tour completes our day on this special island. This evening a special lobster dinner awaits us. Cape Point Hotel – West Yarmouth (B,D)
Day 6 – Newport “Ten Mile Drive” – Mansion Tour
Depart Cape Cod and travel to the “Ocean State” of Rhode Island. Arriving in Newport enjoy a guided tour of the famed “Ten Mile Drive” lined with extravagant mansions filled with antiques and treasures of days gone by. Stop for a tour of one of these fabulous mansions, known as “summer cottages.” Continue to the coastal Connecticut area for our overnight stay. Shuttle service is available to the Mohegan Sun Casino. Day 7- Home
