Day 1 – Concordia, KS
11:00 am – Begin your “Kansas Mystery” tour with Lunch at Heavy’s Barbecue & Brewery
Located in downtown Concordia your group will enjoy the warm, friendly atmosphere of Heavy’s, Home of Baby Huey’s BBQ!
12:30 pm – Brown Grand Theatre
Experience the elegance of the early 1900s with a tour of the Brown Grand. Tour this 650 seat theater’s beautiful décor and learn of performances that have graced it’s stage.
2:00 pm – National Orphan Train Complex
Hear the story and learn about the orphaned, abandoned, and homeless children from the late 1800;’s and early 1900’s who were placed with families and transported via train to their new home, hence the term Orphan Train.
3:30 pm – Nazareth Convent
Often referred to as “The Motherhouse”, this Nazareth Convent is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Construction began in 1902 on this seven story red brick convent and in 1907 the Sacred Heart Chapel was added to the building. Your group will enjoy a tour of the convent and chapel which boasts an extensive collection of art and artifacts.
5:00 pm – Dinner on own followed with a stop at the Whole Wall Mural
The Whole Wall Mural is a three-dimensional mural that measures 140 ft long and 20 ft high. The scene which depicts the rich history of Cloud County was hand carved into 6400 clay bricks, fired, then assembled.
6:30 pm – Check into Concordia, KS hotel
Day 2 – Concordia, KS – Belleville, KS – Washington, KS – Marysville, KS – Hiawatha, KS – Atchison, KS
8:00 am – Depart Concordia for Belleville, KS
8:30 am – Arrive Belleville, KS at Boyer Animated Carvings
Paul Boyer has been doing wood carvings for more than 60 years specializing in animated carvings. With over 65 displays your group will be amazed with the moving parts of these sculptures, which include a working calliope.
9:30 am – Belleview Downtown Shopping at Feathered Nest
Enjoy some shopping at the Featured Nest that combines boutique, accessories, one-of- a-kind furniture, gourmet, and coffee lounge unlike any other store.
10:00 am – Depart for Washington
10:30 am – Arrive Washington, KS at MarCon Pies
Tour the MarCon factory where over 600 pies are made daily by hand and delivered to stores and restaurants.
Noon – Lunch on own
1:15 pm – Herrs Memory Lane
See over 100 fully restored vintage cars, trucks, and tractors at Herrs. This is a walk down memory lane as your group views the vehicles, farm implements, and a 1930 garage complete with tools.
2:00 pm – KSDS
Tour this non-profit organization that is dedicated to the training and placement of service dogs to assist those that are physically and visually impaired.
2:45 pm – Depart for Marysville, KS
3:15 pm – Arrive Marysville, KS at Pony Express Barn & Museum
Built of stone in 1859, this barn served as livery stables and a blacksmith for the Pony Express. Today the barn serves as a museum preserving the history of the Pony Express.
4:15 pm – Depart for Hiawatha, KS
5:15 pm – Arrive Hiawatha, KS at Davis Memorial
Stop at Mount Hope Cemetery to see the monument that John Davis spent over $100,000 on to honor his wife Sarah. Between the death of his wife and his own death he spent his entire wealth on this monument of Italian marble, carved statutes, stone urns, and marble canopy.
5:30 pm – Depart for Atchison, KS
6:30 pm – Arrive Atchinson, KS and check into hotel

Day 3 – Atchison, KS – Leavenworth, KS
9:00 am – Atchison Trolley Tour
Hop aboard the Atchison Trolley for a 45 minute narrated city tour and discover the city’s history and Victorian homes.
10:00 am – St Benedict’s Abbey
Tour St Benedict’s Abbey established in the late 1850s and currently home to about 40 monks. Tour the church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright which features a 44 foot high nave ceiling, beautiful stained glass, and facing choir stalls.
11:15 am – Amelia Earhart Birthplace and Museum
Visit the home where Amelia Earhart was born in 1897, and see memorabilia of this famous female aviator.
Noon –Lunch on own and Shopping Downtown at Nell Hills
Enjoy lunch on your own before arriving at Nell Hills, downtown Atchison for some shopping time. Nell Hill’s is a shopper’s paradise for home décor, gifts, and accessories.
1:45 pm – Depart for Leavenworth, KS
2:15 pm – Arrive at Ft Leavenworth
A tour of Fort Leavenworth that was established in 1827 includes, 19th century buildings, the National Cemetery established by President Abraham Lincoln, and the Memorial Chapel built by military prisoners. NOTE: Photo ID is required.
4:15 pm – Check into one of Leavenworth’s hotels
Day 4 – Leavenworth, KS
9:00 am – Buffalo Soldiers Monument
Meet former Buffalo Soldiers at the Buffalo Soldiers Monument. This bronze is dedicated to the 9th and 10th Calvary Regiments of black soldiers which was headquartered in Leavenworth.
9:45 am – Carroll Mansion
Tour the Carroll Mansion, a Victorian mansion with over 6,000 sq feet on two floors and hear the history of its different owners. After the tour, ladies enjoy some shopping in the mansion’s Victorian Gift Shoppe.
11:00 am – CW Parker Carousel
Ride a hand carved wooden carousel from 1913, built by C.W. Parker the “Carnival King”. Parker was a master carousel maker of the early 1900s and this museum features not only the 1913 carousel but a hand cranked carousel from 1860, and a carousel from 1950 that his son Paul Parker manufactured. Along with the carousels photos, horses, and other artifacts on carousels through the decades are on display.
12:00 pm – Harvey Girls Lunch at 1888 Union Depot
During the late 18th century many restaurants in train stations were opened by Fred Harvey, who recruited young ladies to live at the depots and work at the restaurants. These ladies were referred to as “Harvey Girls” and at Leavenworth’s 1888 Union Depot groups will be taken back in time by enjoying lunch served by ladies depicting the Harvey Girls.
